Flint property portal

The Flint Property Portal was launched by the Genesee County Land Bank Authority and the City of Flint in 2017. The purpose of the Portal is to increase public access to property information in order to strengthen engagement, transparency, and trust between residents and local government in Flint. Who owns the vacant house across the street? What is the future vision for the building on the corner? When is the Land Bank going to demolish that house? How can I let local officials know that the house next door has deteriorated? The Land Bank and the City of Flint have heard feedback from the public about property information for years. In response, we launched the Flint Property Portal so that the public will be more informed and better able to hold us, as government, accountable.What does the Flint Property Portal do?Property Lookup: The Portal contains a profile for every property in Flint. Each property profile includes a photograph and up to 40 pieces of property specific information. Users can lookup the profile for any property in Flint by locating it on the Flint map or entering its address or parcel ID number in the search toolbar.Property Update: Property conditions in Flint change overnight. Meanwhile, the Land Bank and the City of Flint use the information that they have to make decisions every day. Users can report property changes through the Property Update feature to keep the Land Bank and City informed. Enter Wav Village, the 32-year-old Flint, Mich. native’s new downtown recording studio. On Oct. 16, Arline hosted a soft opening for the brand new studio, which bustled with Flint creatives throughout the evening admiring the atmosphere and listening to music by local talent. Though the space is new, Wav Village was conceived in 2019 and was formerly in a smaller, much less accommodating space across the hall. Less than a year into the endeavor, the new space was offered to Arline, though the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the official move until now. The new space is outfitted with a podcast room, an engineering studio, a sizeable recording booth, a pantry full of classic snacks, colored lights that sync to music, and a gaming room for downtime during recording sessions. The Flint resident earned an honorable mention recognition from the National Press Photographers Association’s 2022 Cliff Edom New America Award for a photo story named “This is Flint.”The competition asks photojournalists to highlight diversity in urban communities and rural towns that translate to issues in America that often go unseen.May’s “This is Flint” shows the community from all sides through a 20-picture gallery, collected alongside his day-to-day work with the Journal.Some of the photos include coverage from a Juneteenth celebration, Ira Dorsey’s performance at Glizzy Fest, Back to the Bricks, boxer Claressa Shields and Semaj Brown, Flint’s first poet laureate.“On a national scale, Flint deserves more credit.
